ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is studying a condition called angina, which is chest pain or discomfort caused by reduced blood flow to the heart. Usually, this pain happens because of blockages in the large heart arteries, but in many people—more than half—the large arteries look normal. This study focuses on those patients whose chest pain comes from problems in the smaller blood vessels of the heart (called the microcirculation) or from spasms in the heart’s arteries. The goal is to better understand these less obvious causes of chest pain and improve diagnosis and treatment.
Adults over 18 who have chest pain or similar symptoms and are scheduled for a heart catheterization (a test that looks at the heart’s blood vessels) may be eligible to join. During the procedure, doctors will perform special tests to check how well the small vessels in the heart are working and whether artery spasms are causing symptoms. Participants can expect a careful evaluation of their heart’s blood flow beyond the usual checks for large artery blockages. This study is currently recruiting patients and includes both men and women. It’s important to note that pregnant or nursing individuals and those without these special heart tests won’t be eligible.
