ClinConnect Summary

This clinical trial is studying whether a special training program for primary care doctors can help people with COPD (chronic obstructive pulmonary disease) better follow their treatment plans, take their medications regularly, and reduce the number of flare-ups or worsening of their symptoms. The training includes updated information about COPD, a hands-on workshop on how to use inhalers correctly, and a course on motivational interviewing—a way doctors can better support patients in making healthy changes. The study will compare doctors who receive this training with those who continue their usual care to see if the program improves patient outcomes over a year.

Doctors who care for people with COPD may be eligible to participate if they have at least 18 patients with COPD in their practice, plan to stay in their current clinic for at least a year, and have not already completed a motivational interviewing course. Those who join will either take part in the training or continue with their current care methods. Over the next 12 months, the care and health of their COPD patients will be monitored to see if the training helps patients take their medications more consistently, experience fewer flare-ups, and if doctors follow recommended treatment guidelines better. This study aims to find ways to improve care and quality of life for people living with COPD.
