ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial, called the GREEN CATHeter Lab Study, is looking at the amount and types of waste created during certain heart procedures. After each procedure, the total waste will be weighed and then sorted into different groups like paper, regular trash, medical waste that needs special handling, and recyclable plastics. The study will also compare two different ways of managing this waste to see which is better for the environment and costs less.
Anyone having specific heart procedures, such as diagnostic tests of the heart’s blood vessels, various types of heart artery treatments, or certain valve repair or replacement procedures, can be part of this study. There are no restrictions based on age or gender, and no changes will be made to your usual care. Participants simply have their procedure as planned, and the study team will collect and analyze the waste produced afterward. This study helps hospitals understand how to reduce medical waste and protect the environment while still providing safe heart care.
