ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is studying a new way to help medical students learn how to examine boys’ testicles to find problems with their position, such as when a testicle hasn’t moved down properly (a condition called cryptorchidism). The researchers want to see if practicing on a special training model, like a mannequin, helps students do a better job than just reading about the exam in a book. The students will be split into two groups: one will only get book-based learning, and the other will also practice on the mannequin. Later, both groups will examine a child with a testicular position issue, and their work will be reviewed by an experienced doctor to see who performs better.
Medical students who are currently doing their pediatric or pediatric surgery training and have not had previous practice with this kind of simulation are eligible to join. If you participate, you will either study the exam from books alone or also get hands-on practice with the mannequin. Then, you will have the chance to examine a real patient under supervision. This study aims to improve how future doctors learn to check for testicular problems in children, which could lead to better and quicker diagnosis. The trial is not yet recruiting participants.
