ClinConnect Summary

This clinical trial is studying a new treatment for a jaw joint problem called TMJ disc disorder, which can cause pain, clicking sounds, and difficulty opening the mouth fully. The researchers want to see if injecting a special type of fat tissue taken from the patient’s own body (called microfragmented adipose tissue) into the jaw joint can reduce pain and improve jaw movement better than the current treatment, which uses a substance made from the patient’s own blood called platelet-rich plasma (PRP).

People who might be eligible for this study are those who have symptoms like jaw pain, limited mouth opening, or clicking sounds in the joint, and have been diagnosed with TMJ disc displacement using an MRI or physical exam. Participants in the trial will receive a procedure where fluid is washed through the joint to remove inflammation and then receive an injection either of the microfragmented fat tissue or PRP. The goal is to help reduce pain and improve jaw function. However, people with certain health conditions, such as blood or nerve disorders, connective tissue diseases, metal implants, or those who cannot cooperate with the procedure, will not be eligible. This study is not yet recruiting, and further research will be needed to confirm long-term benefits.
