ClinConnect Summary
This study is looking at how tiny air pollution particles and noise from the environment might affect the risk of heart disease and related health problems in people aged 45 to 64 living in Kaunas City. It also wants to find out if simple lifestyle changes—like daily walks in green areas or following a Mediterranean diet—can help lower these risks and improve health. The study has two parts: one where about 1,000 people fill out an online health and lifestyle survey, and another where 180 people take part in a more detailed clinical trial.
If you join the clinical trial, you will be randomly placed into one of three groups: continuing your usual habits, adding daily walks in nature, or following a Mediterranean diet. You’ll wear a wristband for a week to track your activity, heart rate, and sleep. You’ll also visit the clinic twice—in the beginning and after one week—for some basic health checks like blood pressure and waist size, and to give blood samples. To join, you need to be between 45 and 64 years old, live in Kaunas City, and have some signs of metabolic health issues like high blood pressure or a larger waist size. People with certain heart problems, very high blood pressure, neurological issues, pregnancy, or alcohol dependence cannot join. This study hopes to give useful advice on how to reduce the impact of pollution and noise on heart health through everyday lifestyle changes.
