Stroke Virtual Reality Augmented Reality Treadmill

ClinConnect Summary

This clinical trial is studying how two different types of technology—augmented reality (AR) and virtual reality (VR)—can help improve balance and walking in people who have had a stroke. Stroke can affect movement, and this study wants to see if using AR or VR during treadmill training, alongside regular physical therapy, can make a difference compared to just doing exercises at home. Participants will be divided into three groups: one using VR, one using AR, and one doing home exercises, all for 45 minutes a day, five days a week, over three weeks. The researchers will measure improvements in walking, balance, thinking skills, and other movement details before and after the training.

People who might join this study are adults who have had a stroke causing weakness on one side of the body and who can walk with some help or on their own. To be part of the trial, participants need to be able to use the technology (no major vision or hearing problems) and have enough thinking ability to follow instructions. Those with other serious health issues, repeated strokes, or who recently had certain muscle treatments might not be eligible. If you join, you’ll receive regular physical therapy plus either AR or VR treadmill training, or a home exercise program, and you’ll be closely monitored to see how these treatments help your walking and balance. This is an exciting study looking at new ways to support stroke recovery using technology.
