ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is looking at how two types of exercise—Tai Chi and moderate-intensity combined exercise—affect heart and metabolism health in older adults with type 2 diabetes. The goal is to see if Tai Chi, which is a gentle, slow-moving form of exercise, can provide similar short-term benefits to more traditional, moderate-level workouts. These benefits include things like blood sugar levels, blood pressure, heart function, and blood vessel health.
The study will involve 24 men and women, all aged 65 or older, who have type 2 diabetes and are currently not very active. People who have serious foot problems or other conditions that make exercise unsafe won’t be able to join. Participants will take part in sessions of Tai Chi, moderate exercise, and a control activity, with their health measurements taken before, right after, and 45 minutes after each session. This study aims to find out if Tai Chi could be a safe and effective exercise option for older adults with diabetes to help manage their condition and improve their overall heart and metabolic health.
