ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is studying a new cream made with metformin, a medicine commonly used for diabetes, to see if it can safely and effectively treat mild to moderate plaque psoriasis, a common skin condition that causes red, scaly patches. Researchers want to compare this metformin cream to a standard treatment called betamethasone valerate cream, which is a type of steroid often used for psoriasis. They will look at how well each cream improves the skin and reduces inflammation.
Adults aged 18 and older with mild or moderate plaque psoriasis who haven’t used other psoriasis treatments recently may be eligible to join. The study will not include people with other types of psoriasis, pregnant or breastfeeding women, or those with other inflammatory skin conditions. Participants can expect to apply one of the creams to their skin and have their progress carefully monitored through skin exams and lab tests. This trial aims to find a treatment that works well with fewer side effects, offering a potentially safer option for people managing psoriasis.
