ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is studying people with carpal tunnel syndrome (CTS), a condition that causes pain, numbness, or tingling in the hand and wrist. The researchers want to understand why some people with CTS experience symptoms that spread beyond the usual area served by the median nerve (the main nerve affected in CTS). They believe this wider spread of symptoms might be linked to something called "central sensitization," which means the nervous system becomes more sensitive to pain. To explore this, the study will use questionnaires and pressure tests to see if people with these extra symptoms have higher sensitivity compared to those with typical CTS symptoms.
If you are between 18 and 65 years old, have been diagnosed with CTS through clinical exams and nerve tests, and can read and write, you might be eligible to join. The study is open to all genders but excludes people with certain other health problems like diabetes, inflammatory diseases, or recent CTS treatments such as surgery or injections. Participants will be asked to complete some simple tests and questionnaires to help the researchers learn more about pain and symptom patterns in CTS. This information could help doctors better understand and treat different types of CTS pain in the future.
