ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is studying whether a special dental coating called chlorhexidine varnish can help reduce common problems for people wearing braces, like swollen gums (gum overgrowth), buildup of dental plaque (a sticky film on teeth), and early signs of tooth decay known as white spot lesions. To do this, each person's mouth will be split into two sides—one side will get the active varnish treatment, and the other side will get a placebo, which looks the same but has no active ingredient. The researchers will watch for changes in gum health, plaque, and white spots over a three-month period.
If you are between 15 and 30 years old, have permanent teeth, and are wearing braces, you might be eligible to join this study. However, people with certain conditions like cleft lip or palate, pregnant or breastfeeding women, those with certain drug allergies, or who breathe mainly through their mouth won’t be able to participate. During the trial, participants can expect regular check-ups where the varnish will be applied and their oral health monitored. This study aims to find a safe and easy way to keep braces wearers’ gums and teeth healthier.
