ClinConnect Summary

This clinical trial is exploring a new way to help women who are having weight-loss surgery (called bariatric surgery) keep their muscle strength after the operation. Sometimes, people lose muscle as well as fat during weight loss, which can make it harder to stay healthy. Researchers are studying a natural body system they call the "gravitostat," which helps control body weight by sensing how much weight your body carries. By keeping this system active during weight loss—through methods that mimic carrying extra weight—they hope to protect muscle and improve overall strength, while still helping reduce fat.

The study is looking for women between 18 and 60 years old who are planning to have bariatric surgery, like sleeve gastrectomy, and who can give their consent to join. Participants will be asked to follow the study’s plan, which aims to balance reducing harmful effects like inflammation while maintaining the body’s “mechanical load” to keep muscles strong. If you join, you can expect careful monitoring and support to see if this approach helps prevent muscle loss after surgery. This trial is not yet open for recruitment, but it offers a hopeful new strategy to improve muscle health after weight-loss surgery.
