ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is studying whether saliva (spit) can be used as an easy and early way to detect oral cancer, especially in people who have a condition called oral submucous fibrosis (OSMF). OSMF is a problem caused mainly by chewing pan supari chhaliya (a type of chewing substance), which makes the mouth stiff and hard to open. Because of this, oral cancer is often found late when it’s harder to treat. By looking at the cells and chemicals in saliva, researchers hope to find signs of cancer earlier in both healthy people and those with OSMF or oral cancer.
Anyone can take part if they are healthy volunteers, have OSMF, or have oral cancer confirmed by a biopsy (a test where a small tissue sample is checked). However, people with oral infections cannot join. Participants will provide saliva samples, which will be studied to see if saliva testing could be a simple, non-painful way to catch oral cancer early. This study is currently looking for volunteers to help with this important research.
