ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is studying whether using a special type of stiff tape (called rigid tape) can help people who have long-lasting pain in their Achilles tendon, which is the thick band at the back of your ankle. The researchers want to see if this tape can reduce pain during activities like running and jumping, and if people find it helpful and comfortable to use. They will compare the effects of the real rigid tape with a fake (placebo) tape to find out if the tape really makes a difference.
To take part, you need to be between 18 and 50 years old, have pain in one or both Achilles tendons lasting more than three months, and experience pain when running or jumping. You should also be able to speak and understand Spanish well enough to give consent and follow instructions. During the study, a sports doctor will confirm your diagnosis, and then you’ll be randomly placed in one of two groups: one getting the real tape and the other the placebo tape. The tape will be applied to the middle part of your Achilles tendon, and your pain levels will be checked right after, and again after 72 hours. You won’t know which tape you get, and neither will the therapist assessing you. At the end, you’ll be asked how you feel overall about the treatment. This study is not yet recruiting participants.
