ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is looking at a tool called the VEXUS Score to see how well it can predict the chances of survival for patients who have septic shock, a serious condition caused by a severe infection leading to low blood pressure and organ problems. The study will take place in intensive care units, where patients with septic shock are closely monitored. Researchers want to find out if the VEXUS Score can help doctors identify which patients are at higher risk of dying, so they can provide better care.
Adults over 18 who are being treated for septic shock in intensive care units may be eligible to join the study, as long as they can safely have an ultrasound exam of their veins. People with certain conditions, like severe obesity that makes ultrasound difficult, chronic kidney disease requiring dialysis, serious heart or liver problems, or blood clots in key veins, would not be able to participate. If you join the study, you can expect to have ultrasound scans to assess your veins, which is a painless procedure using sound waves to create images inside the body. The study is not yet recruiting participants, but if you or a loved one is in intensive care with septic shock, this research could help improve how doctors predict outcomes and tailor treatments in the future.
