ClinConnect Summary
This clinical study is looking at a program called the Wheelchair School, which uses the Drivkraft Method to help adults with long-term neurological conditions who use manual wheelchairs. The goal is to see how well this program improves wheelchair skills and safety, helping people become more independent in their daily lives. The study will also check how reliable a specific test called the Drivkraft Maneuvering Test (DWMT) is for measuring wheelchair skills.
Adults between 18 and 74 years old who have a neurological condition and use a manual wheelchair may be able to join, but they must be participating in the Wheelchair School at Aleris Rehab Station. People with Parkinson’s disease, those who don’t speak enough Swedish to complete study forms, or those with memory or understanding difficulties that make filling out forms or giving consent hard, won’t be eligible. Participants will take part in 16 half-day sessions that include wheelchair fitting, personalized training on how to move the wheelchair safely, and group lessons. The program is led by physiotherapists and peer mentors, aiming to support better independence and reduce pain or other problems related to wheelchair use.
