ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is looking at how nerves and muscles communicate in very young babies compared to older children and adults during surgery. The study will use a special device called the TetraGraph, which measures nerve signals to muscles without causing discomfort. Researchers want to see if there are differences in how this communication works between infants under 3 months old and patients 12 years or older.
To take part, patients need to be generally healthy (classified as ASA 1-3), either very young babies between 28 days and 3 months old or older patients aged 12 years and up. They must be having surgery with a certain type of anesthesia that does not involve muscle relaxants, and they must be able to have the monitoring device placed on their arm. People with nerve problems, swelling, or those needing muscle relaxants during surgery won’t be able to join. If eligible, participants will have the TetraGraph device placed on their arm during surgery to monitor nerve and muscle activity, which is safe and painless. This study is not yet recruiting participants but aims to improve our understanding of nerve and muscle function in different age groups during surgery.
