ClinConnect Summary
This study is looking at a special type of training called Youth Mental Health First Aid (YMHFA), which teaches adults how to better support young people’s mental health. The goal is to change this training so it fits the needs of South Asian American adults who work with South Asian American youth aged 8 to 18. To do this, researchers will first talk with groups of adults to learn what changes the training might need. Then, they will update the training and test if it helps adults feel more confident and knowledgeable about mental health and how to support young people.
If you are a South Asian American adult working with South Asian American youth and haven’t taken this training before, you might be able to join. The study is open to adults of any gender who are 18 or older. Participants will be involved in the updated training and researchers will look at how it changes their understanding and behavior around mental health. People who have already completed this training or who work as mental health professionals are not eligible. This study is currently recruiting and aims to improve mental health support in the community by making the training more relevant and helpful.
