ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial, called "My Eyes, My Light," is focused on improving eye health for people living in the coastal area of Char Fasson, Bangladesh. Many people in this region face eye problems like glaucoma, diabetic eye disease, cataracts, and other conditions that can lead to vision loss. Because of limited access to eye care and the challenges of poverty and hard outdoor work, many eye diseases go undetected and untreated. This study uses a new approach combining artificial intelligence (AI) with community support to offer affordable and easy eye screenings. The AI technology helps doctors quickly and accurately check the back of the eye for signs of common eye diseases, even where eye specialists are scarce.
People who are 35 years or older and live in Char Fasson can take part, as long as they don’t already have a diagnosed eye disease. Participants will be screened based on their risk factors, such as age, diabetes, or high blood pressure. The process includes taking pictures of the inside of the eye using special cameras, which the AI then helps analyze. If problems are found, participants will be guided to receive proper treatment. This project aims to make eye care more available and affordable, improve early detection of eye disease, and collect important information to make AI tools better in the future.
