ClinConnect Summary

This clinical trial is studying whether combining two treatments—functional electrical stimulation (a gentle electrical current to help muscles move) and mirror therapy (using a mirror to create a reflection of the stronger arm to trick the brain)—can improve the movement and daily life quality of children who have weakness or difficulty moving one arm due to a condition called hemiplegia. The study will include children between 5 and 10 years old who have mild to moderate muscle stiffness in their affected arm and can follow simple instructions.

Children who join the study will be randomly placed into one of two groups. One group will receive regular physical therapy, while the other group will get the same physical therapy plus the electrical stimulation combined with mirror therapy. Children with loss of feeling, vision problems, severe muscle issues, seizures, or past surgeries on their arms won’t be able to participate. The goal is to see if adding these treatments helps children use their affected arm better and improves their overall quality of life.
