ClinConnect Summary

This study is looking at how platelets, which are tiny blood cells that help stop bleeding by forming clots, work in healthy adults. Researchers want to understand how platelets and blood clotting change over time and how things like diet, exercise, weight, and new health issues might affect them. The goal is to learn more about normal platelet function to help improve prevention and treatment of blood clot-related problems in the future.

If you are 18 years or older and in generally good health, you might be able to join this study. Participants will visit the clinic every 6 or 7 months for up to 10 years. Each visit will take 2 to 3 hours and include a physical exam, measurements like hip and ankle size, urine and blood tests, and surveys about lifestyle habits such as diet, exercise, smoking, and sleep. Before each visit, you’ll need to fast for 10 hours and avoid certain medications like aspirin or Advil for a week. Some blood samples will be used to study genes and create stem cells, which are special cells used for research. This long-term study will help researchers better understand how platelets work in healthy people over time.
