ClinConnect Summary
This is a national cross‑sectional survey in Sudan (called NASAPS) that aims to understand how ready doctors who perform surgery are to use artificial intelligence (AI) in surgical care. The researchers will ask about doctors’ knowledge of AI, how they think AI could help in surgery, potential barriers (like infrastructure, training, or cost), and what kind of training they would want. The study does not test or use AI tools itself. The goal is to gather information to help design AI solutions that can work offline or with limited internet, especially in areas affected by conflict.
If you are a Sudanese doctor who currently provides surgical care in Sudan, you may be invited to participate. Up to about 800 doctors from public, private, NGO, and military hospitals (urban or rural) could take part. You would complete an online survey about your awareness and experiences with AI in surgery, and your opinions on benefits, barriers, and training needs. Your answers will be kept private and only reported as group results. The study is led by the Sudan Medical Specialization Board, with Alsadig Suliman as the principal investigator, and is expected to run from February 2025 to December 2025.
