ClinConnect Summary
The AHA Oneida Study is a research project designed to see if a special nutrition program, based on Oneida culture, can help reduce the risk factors for stroke and slow down memory or thinking problems. The study also wants to find out if teaching children about healthy eating in schools can improve the overall health of the Oneida community.
People who are members of the Oneida Nation, between the ages of 7 and 85, and who receive healthcare through the Oneida Comprehensive Health Division may be able to join. If you take part, you will have several health checks, including an ultrasound to look at the blood flow in your neck (which can show stroke risk), tests to check how well your memory and thinking skills are working, blood tests, and health coaching to support your wellness. The study will last about one year. It is important to note that only Native American individuals from the Oneida Nation can participate. This study is not yet open for enrollment.
