ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is studying whether adding a simple relaxation technique called Progressive Muscle Relaxation (PMR) to regular physical therapy can help adults who have lost one leg below or above the knee due to injury. The researchers want to see if this combined approach can reduce tiredness (fatigue), improve walking ability, help balance weight better on the remaining leg and prosthetic, and lower stress levels. This is especially important for people living in the Gaza Strip, where access to rehabilitation services is limited and life can be very stressful.
Adults between 18 and 59 years old who have had one leg amputated due to trauma and are already using a prosthetic leg may be eligible to join. People with serious health problems or recent surgery will not be able to participate. Those who take part will be randomly assigned to either receive standard physical therapy alone or physical therapy plus PMR for six weeks. Their fatigue, walking ability, stress, and weight distribution will be measured before and after the program, and again two weeks later. The goal is to find out if adding this relaxation method can make a real difference in recovery and daily life for amputees in challenging environments.
