ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is looking at a tool called the Safe Use of Mobility Aids Checklist (SUMAC) to see if it works well for older adults in Turkey who have dementia and use a 4-wheeled walker. The researchers want to find out if SUMAC is a reliable and accurate way to check how safely these walkers are being used. This is important because using a walker safely can help prevent falls and keep people more independent.
To take part, individuals need to be 65 years or older, have a dementia diagnosis, use a 4-wheeled walker, and be able to understand and speak Turkish. They also need to have a certain level of thinking ability, measured by a short test called the Mini Mental State Examination (MMSE), and be able to walk without help from another person. Participants will be asked to fill out some questionnaires and perform tasks from the SUMAC to see how well the checklist works. People with serious walking problems, balance issues, severe vision or hearing loss, serious heart problems, recent surgeries, or cancer treatment will not be eligible. This study is not yet recruiting participants but aims to make walker use safer for older adults with dementia in Turkey.
