ClinConnect Summary

This study is looking at how children who had a bone marrow transplant (a treatment for serious illnesses like certain cancers) might experience changes in thinking skills, such as memory, concentration, and learning. Researchers want to understand if these changes are connected to other health issues that can happen after the transplant, like problems with muscle strength, heart health, or metabolism (how the body processes food and energy). They will also check if certain blood tests taken during the transplant can help predict who might have difficulties with thinking skills later on.

Children and young adults who had a bone marrow transplant in Denmark since 2010, before they turned 18, and who are now at least 7 years old can take part, as long as they speak and understand Danish. People diagnosed with autism or Down syndrome before their transplant cannot join. If you participate, you can expect tests that look at thinking skills and physical health, and blood samples might be reviewed to help find early signs of possible problems. The goal is to better understand and eventually improve care for children who have had these transplants, helping them live healthier lives as they grow up.
