ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is a follow-up study looking at patients who previously took part in the pCAD-POAF trial, which involved people with coronary artery disease and atrial fibrillation (an irregular heart rhythm). The study will check on these patients three years after their heart surgery to see how their heart rhythm has been doing. Specifically, researchers want to measure how much atrial fibrillation (AF) the patients experience over a three-day heart monitor test and whether they remain free of AF without needing medications or other treatments. They will also track serious health events like stroke, heart attacks, or hospital visits, as well as overall heart health, heart rates, and quality of life.
People who took part in the original pCAD-POAF trial are eligible to join this follow-up. Participants can expect to have their heart rhythm monitored for several days using a portable device and answer questions about their health and daily life. This study is not yet recruiting new participants, and it aims to learn more about the long-term effects of heart surgery on rhythm and overall wellbeing, which could help improve future care for patients with heart artery disease and atrial fibrillation.
