ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is studying a new way to help doctors find the exact spots in the brain that cause seizures in people with epilepsy that doesn’t get better with medication. The study uses special types of brain scans called PET scans, which look at different brain activities. One scan shows how the brain uses sugar, another looks at the connections between brain cells, and the third checks for inflammation or irritation in the brain. By combining these three scans, doctors hope to get a clearer picture of where seizures start, which can help plan surgery more precisely to improve outcomes.
People eligible for this study include those aged 6 to 62 who have epilepsy that is difficult to treat with drugs and are being considered for surgery. Participants will undergo these special PET scans before surgery, which are safe and painless imaging tests. Although the study is not yet recruiting, it aims to provide better information to guide surgery and improve treatment for people with drug-resistant epilepsy.
