ClinConnect Summary

This clinical trial is studying a new way to help people with chronic temporomandibular disorders (TMD), which are problems affecting the jaw joint and surrounding muscles that can cause pain and difficulty with jaw movement. The study is looking at whether adding a special type of education called Pain Neuroscience Education (PNE)—which helps people understand how pain works in the body—along with regular physiotherapy (physical therapy) can reduce pain more effectively and improve overall well-being compared to physiotherapy alone.

People of all genders who have chronic TMD may be eligible to join the study. Participants will be randomly placed into one of two groups: one group will receive just physiotherapy, while the other group will receive both physiotherapy and the pain education sessions. Both groups will follow their assigned treatments for a certain period. This study hopes to find better, more patient-friendly ways to manage chronic jaw pain by combining education and physical therapy. Please note, the trial is not yet recruiting participants.
