ClinConnect Summary
This study is looking at how personalized nutrition advice from a dietitian affects patients who are very sick and staying in the intensive care unit (ICU). Researchers want to see if this tailored nutrition plan helps patients get more of the energy and nutrients they need compared to the usual care they receive. They will follow patients from their time in the ICU and hospital stay, continuing up to six months after admission to see how nutrition impacts their recovery.
People who might join this study are adults aged 65 to 74 who are currently in the ICU due to critical illness. If you participate, you can expect to receive nutrition care that is specifically designed for your needs by a dietitian, rather than the standard nutrition care. The study will compare these two approaches to understand which works better for patients like you. This research is still recruiting participants, so if you or a family member fits the age range and condition, this could be an option to consider.
