ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is looking at whether it’s better for patients to eat and drink normally before a planned heart procedure called a cardiac catheterization, instead of fasting (not eating or drinking) as is often recommended. The study will compare two groups of patients: one group will follow the usual fasting instructions before the procedure, and the other group will be allowed to eat and drink as they wish. Researchers want to see if eating beforehand affects how happy patients feel about their experience and whether it changes the risk of breathing problems during the procedure.
The trial is open to adults aged 65 to 74 who are scheduled for an elective (planned) cardiac catheterization. If you join, you’ll be randomly placed into one of the two groups and follow the assigned instructions before your procedure. This study is important because it could lead to more comfortable preparation for patients undergoing this common heart test, without increasing risks. Currently, the trial is not yet recruiting participants.
