ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is studying how a virtual reality experience called "virtual forest bathing" might help people who are having bariatric surgery, which is surgery to help with weight loss. The idea is that spending time in nature, even through a virtual reality program, might reduce feelings of anxiety, fear, and pain before and after surgery. The study will look at how this virtual nature experience affects patients’ pain levels, anxiety, sleep quality, vital signs like heart rate and blood pressure, and stress hormone levels.
The study plans to include about 70 adults who are scheduled for bariatric surgery at City Hospital in Erzurum. Participants will be randomly assigned to either try the virtual forest bathing experience or receive usual care without it. If you take part, you can expect to use a virtual reality program that simulates being in a peaceful forest environment before and after your surgery. This study is not recruiting yet but aims to start enrolling patients in August 2025. It’s open to all genders and anyone who is preparing for bariatric surgery, and it hopes to find out if this calming nature experience can make the surgery and recovery easier.
