ClinConnect Summary
This clinical study is looking at whether using local heat therapy (like a warm pack) can help reduce jaw pain and tiredness caused by teeth clenching in people with chronic temporomandibular disorder (TMD), a condition that causes ongoing jaw pain. The researchers believe that most people who try the heat therapy will feel less pain and fatigue during jaw movements. They also want to learn more about the differences between those who benefit from the heat and those who don’t, to better understand who might respond best to this treatment.
The study is open to adults aged 65 to 74 of any gender who have chronic TMD pain. Participants will be asked to complete a simple task that involves clenching their teeth, and the researchers will see how applying heat to the jaw affects their pain and tiredness during this task. This study is not yet recruiting, but it aims to help find easy and effective ways to manage jaw pain for people living with TMD.
