ClinConnect Summary

This clinical trial is studying how a measure called the triglyceride-glucose (TyG) index relates to the heart health of people who have early-onset coronary artery disease (CAD) but do not have diabetes. Coronary artery disease happens when the blood vessels supplying the heart become narrowed or blocked, which can cause chest pain or heart attacks. The TyG index is a simple calculation based on blood tests for fats (triglycerides) and sugar (glucose) and may help doctors better understand the condition of these blood vessels in younger patients.

The study is looking for adults between the ages of 65 and 74 of any gender who have been diagnosed with premature coronary artery disease but do not have diabetes. Participants will likely undergo imaging tests of their heart’s blood vessels to see how the TyG index relates to the condition of their arteries. This research is not yet open for enrollment, but if you qualify and decide to join, you can expect to have your blood tested and receive specialized heart scans to help doctors learn more about how this blood test might guide treatment in the future.
