ClinConnect Summary
This study is looking at how much food a person needs to eat to match the amount of energy their body uses, which helps keep body weight steady—a state called energy balance. The goal is to better understand the right amount of food intake to prevent problems like obesity. Researchers will use special rooms called whole-room indirect calorimeters (WRICs) to measure how much energy a person burns more accurately than usual methods. They want to see if these precise measurements can help improve recommendations for food intake and understand how different levels of physical activity affect energy use and eating habits.
People of all genders between the ages of about 6,500 to 14,600 (likely a typo, but assuming adults and older teens) who are generally healthy might be eligible to join. Participants will spend time in these special rooms where their energy use is closely monitored while they eat and do activities. This helps researchers learn how energy use relates to food intake and weight over time. If you join, you’ll help improve knowledge about healthy eating and weight management, which could benefit many people in the future.
