ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is studying a new way to improve the detection, treatment, and control of type 2 diabetes in urban areas of Bangladesh, where this condition is becoming more common and harder to manage. The study will test a community-to-healthcare facility approach based on guidelines from the World Health Organization (WHO) called the HEARTS-D module. This approach aims to make diabetes care more accessible and effective, especially for people living in poorer city neighborhoods. Researchers will compare this new strategy to the usual care people currently receive, to see if it helps more people manage their diabetes better and avoid complications.
The study will include adults from certain areas of Sylhet city who live with or are at risk for type 2 diabetes. Participants can expect to be part of assessments that look at how well diabetes care is working, including whether people are taking their medications, controlling their blood sugar, and learning more about their condition. The goal is to find the best way to provide diabetes care that fits local needs and can be used in similar communities worldwide. This study has not started recruiting yet but aims to help policymakers improve diabetes services in cities like Sylhet.
