ClinConnect Summary
This study plans to observe about 100 adults who are on regular hemodialysis at Assiut University Hospital. It aims to find out how common thyroid problems are in these patients and how thyroid health relates to levels of cholesterol and uric acid. Researchers will measure thyroid hormones in blood, check cholesterol and triglycerides, test uric acid, and do a thyroid ultrasound. They will also review dialysis records and other health information to look for patterns and possible connections with age, gender, smoking, diabetes, and high blood pressure.
If you’re eligible, you would be adults 18 years or older who have been on regular hemodialysis for at least 3 months and do not already have a thyroid disorder or take medicines that lower lipids or uric acid. This is an observational study, so no treatment is given by the study team—participants simply undergo assessments to collect information. The study has not started recruiting yet, with an estimated start in 2026 and final results expected by 2027.
