ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is studying a rare condition called Human T-lymphotropic virus type-I-associated myelopathy/tropical spastic paraparesis (HAM/TSP), which affects some people who have the HTLV-I virus. The goal is to understand how this condition develops over time and to explore changes in the immune system and the virus itself. Researchers will track the health of participants through regular check-ups and tests, including neurological exams and blood samples, to learn more about the disease and how it affects individuals differently.
To participate in this study, you need to be diagnosed with HAM/TSP based on specific guidelines or have a family member who is HTLV positive. Healthy volunteers who are willing to help are also welcome. Participants will undergo various evaluations and tests throughout the study. It’s important to note that anyone under 18 years old will not be eligible for this trial. By joining, participants may contribute valuable information that could help improve understanding and treatment of this condition in the future.
