ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is designed to study patients who have been newly diagnosed with two types of leukemia: acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL) and acute promyelocytic leukemia (APL). Researchers will look at blood and tissue samples from these patients to understand more about the genetic features of their cancers. By examining these samples, doctors hope to identify important markers that can help in diagnosing and treating these types of leukemia in the future.
To participate in this trial, patients must have a confirmed diagnosis of ALL and be enrolled in specific treatment trials for their condition. For those with APL, enrollment in designated studies is also required. While the trial is currently active, it is not recruiting new participants. If you or a loved one has recently been diagnosed with either type of leukemia and meets the eligibility criteria, this study could contribute valuable information to improve cancer care. Participants can expect to provide samples and may help advance our understanding of these diseases.

Eligibility criteria
- • Patients with a diagnosis of acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL) entered onto CALGB treatment trials for previously untreated ALL must be enrolled on CALGB 9862. Entry on CALGB 8461 is strongly encouraged.
- • Patients with a diagnosis of acute promyelocytic leukemia (APL) enrolled on SWOG S0521 or S0535 must be enrolled on CALGB 9862.
