ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial, called "Cohort CP," is studying children with severe cerebral palsy, specifically those who have trouble with movement and are classified as having levels IV or V on the Gross Motor Function Classification System (GMFCS). The research focuses on understanding how common orthopedic complications, like scoliosis (curvature of the spine) and hip problems, develop as these children grow older. The study started in September 2009 and aims to follow around 385 children aged 2 to 10 years for ten years, with one visit each year to collect important information about their health and environment.
To be eligible for this study, children must be between 2 and 10 years old, have bilateral cerebral palsy, and be part of the French healthcare system, with their parents giving consent for participation. Throughout the trial, researchers will look at how these complications change over time, the pain associated with them, and the effects of factors like nutrition and posture. The goal is to gather valuable information that can help improve care and quality of life for these children, leading to better prevention and treatment strategies tailored to their needs.
