ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is looking at the long-term effects of a condition called developmental dysplasia of the hip (DDH). DDH is a hip problem that can happen in babies, where the hip joint doesn't fit properly in the socket. The study aims to understand how this condition, and its treatment in childhood, affects health and quality of life as children grow into young adults. Researchers will compare the hip health, symptoms, and overall well-being of 170 participants who were treated for DDH with similar-aged individuals who did not have the condition.
To be eligible for this study, participants must have been diagnosed with DDH before the age of 1.5 years and treated at Oulu University Hospital. They cannot have other conditions that could affect their hip development, like cerebral palsy or certain bone problems. Participants will undergo various assessments, including hip X-rays, physical exams, and dental checks, helping us learn more about how DDH affects people later in life. This important research is currently ongoing but is not recruiting new participants at this time.
