ClinConnect Summary

This clinical trial, titled "Schema Therapy for Chronic Depression," is looking to find out how effective a specific type of therapy called schema therapy is for women who have been dealing with chronic depression. This includes conditions like chronic major depressive disorder and dysthymic disorder. The researchers want to compare schema therapy to a method called active monitoring, which involves regular check-ins without specific therapy, to see which approach helps women feel better while they are already receiving psychiatric care.

To participate in this trial, women need to have been experiencing depression for at least three years and have a specific level of depression severity. They will be eligible if they meet certain criteria, such as having a structured assessment showing persistent depressive symptoms. However, women who have had recent psychiatric hospitalizations, certain severe mental health issues like schizophrenia or bipolar disorder, or other significant cognitive challenges will not be eligible. Participants can expect to engage in therapy sessions and receive support throughout the study, which is currently recruiting women within the age range of 14 to 23.
