ClinConnect Summary

The Positively Quit Trial is a research study aimed at helping people with certain chronic health conditions stop smoking. The study is testing a special smoking cessation program delivered through online group sessions to see if it works better than a comparison program that doesn’t focus on quitting smoking but offers the same number of group meetings. Both groups will receive advice on quitting and will have the option to use nicotine replacement therapy patches, which can help reduce cravings. Researchers will track participants' smoking habits over a year to see which program is more effective.

To be eligible for the trial, participants must be at least 18 years old, currently smoke cigarettes, and be motivated to quit. They should also have access to a smartphone, tablet, or computer with internet, and be able to join the video sessions from a private space. It’s important that participants live in the U.S. and speak English. Those who are pregnant, breastfeeding, or receiving other tobacco treatments won't be able to join the trial. Participants can expect to take part in 12 online group sessions and receive support tailored to their health needs as they work towards quitting smoking.
