ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is focused on understanding a condition called Eosinophilic Esophagitis (EoE), which is an allergic disorder affecting the esophagus, the tube that connects your mouth to your stomach. It is becoming more commonly diagnosed in children, and researchers want to learn more about what causes it and how it relates to other allergic conditions, like asthma and skin allergies. The study will involve collecting and analyzing information from patients with EoE at Ann & Robert H. Lurie Children's Hospital, as well as looking at patients who may have EoE but haven't been officially diagnosed yet.
To participate in this trial, patients need to have a confirmed diagnosis of EoE, which is usually identified through a procedure called endoscopy, where doctors look inside the esophagus and take small tissue samples. Alternatively, children who show symptoms of EoE but have not yet been diagnosed can also be included as control patients. Participants will help researchers understand the condition better, which may lead to improved treatment options in the future. It’s important to note that anyone who does not agree to participate cannot be included in the study.
