ClinConnect Summary
The ACTIVE-IBD Study is looking at how physical activity and sleep affect children with Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD). Researchers want to understand how active these kids are and whether they are getting enough exercise. To do this, children aged 6 to 18 who have been diagnosed with IBD will fill out questionnaires about their activity levels, quality of life, and their health. They will also wear a wrist device for a week that tracks their movements and keep a diary of their physical activity, food intake, and bowel habits.
To participate, children must be under the care of the Southampton University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust gastroenterology team and be able to provide consent. The study is currently recruiting participants, and it's important for families to know that even pregnant participants can join if they can complete the study activities. Overall, this trial aims to gather valuable information that could help improve the health and well-being of children living with IBD.
