ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial, called the FLIM study, is looking at a new way to assess the quality of embryos during in vitro fertilization (IVF) or intracytoplasmic sperm injection (ICSI). Researchers want to see if they can use a special imaging technique called Fluorescence Lifetime Imaging Microscopy (FLIM) to measure the activity of cumulus cells—cells that surround and support the egg. By understanding how these cells behave, the study hopes to find a link between their activity and successful outcomes like clinical pregnancies, ongoing pregnancies at 12 weeks, and live births.
To participate in this study, women aged 18 and older who are undergoing IVF or ICSI must meet certain criteria. They need to have had at least 8 follicles (small fluid-filled sacs containing eggs) visible during an ultrasound before ovulation. Participants will agree to freeze all their embryos and have a single embryo transferred on day 5 or 6 after fertilization. If you choose to join, you will help researchers gather important information that could improve future IVF treatments.
