ClinConnect Summary
The IUD Self-Removal Study is a research project that aims to determine the best ways for women to safely remove their intrauterine devices (IUDs) on their own. The study will also look into how women feel about self-removal and what indicators show that it was successful. This pilot study is currently recruiting participants who are between the ages of 18 and 62 and are visiting a clinic for an IUD removal or exchange. To take part, women must be able to understand English or Spanish and give their consent to join the study.
Participants in this trial can expect to learn about different techniques for self-removing an IUD and will have the opportunity to share their thoughts on the process. However, women who have complicated removal needs, such as those with a specific type of IUD that’s more difficult to take out, will not be eligible for this study. Overall, this trial will help improve understanding of self-removal techniques and their impact on women's healthcare.
