ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is studying the effects of a technique called motor imagery on walking and balance in boys with Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy (DMD), a condition that affects muscle strength. Motor imagery involves imagining movements in your mind without actually moving, which might help improve physical abilities. The trial includes boys aged 5 to 12 who can still walk independently and have been diagnosed with DMD. To participate, they should not have had any significant injuries or surgeries in the last six months and must be able to follow instructions from a physiotherapist.
Participants will be divided into two groups. One group will receive standard physiotherapy sessions, while the other group will also get extra training in motor imagery alongside their physiotherapy. The study will last for eight weeks, and at the beginning and end, the boys will be assessed on their walking and balance using various simple tests. This research aims to find out if adding motor imagery to regular treatment can help improve the functioning of children with DMD.
