ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is exploring two types of walking tests to better understand the oxygen needs of patients with lung disease who feel short of breath during physical activity. The traditional test, called the Max-6MWT, asks patients to walk as far as they can in six minutes, which may not reflect how they actually move in their daily lives. Instead, the trial will also include a new walking test where patients walk at their normal pace for the same amount of time, known as the Nor_6MWT. Researchers believe this test will give a clearer picture of whether patients need extra oxygen during everyday activities.
To be part of this study, participants should be between 18 and 90 years old, have been referred for the standard walking test, and be able to give consent to join. Those interested can expect to perform both walking tests and help researchers understand how different walking speeds affect oxygen levels. This trial is currently recruiting participants, and it aims to improve the way we assess oxygen needs for those living with respiratory diseases.
