ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is studying a new technique called "Air Stacking" that may help improve lung function in patients who have been on a mechanical ventilator for more than 24 hours. The trial involves patients in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) and compares two methods for helping to expand the lungs: one that uses a special breathing technique with a ventilator and another that simply involves taking a pause while connected to a closed suction system.
To be eligible for this study, participants need to be at least 18 years old, have been on mechanical ventilation for over 48 hours, and be stable in terms of their blood pressure. They should not have certain conditions like a collapsed lung or severe rib injuries. If someone joins the study, they will receive one of the two treatment methods in a random order to see which is more effective. It's important to note that the study is currently recruiting participants, and everyone involved must have their legal representative give approval to take part.
